Hi, I’m Abby

The proud owner of Lakes Region Outward Hound, and I have been a dog lover since day one.

That’s me with the puppy in my lap, about 30 years ago, and as you can tell not much has changed. I grew up right here in the Lakes Region, in a home and neighborhood full of family dogs. I have always felt a connection with dogs and had an interest in working with them so finally, in the spring of 2020, took a leap of faith and made a full-time career out of it.

So far it has been one of the best decisions of my life! I have since completed my first full year as a business owner, spending my days in the woods surrounded by dogs, and now I truly can’t imagine any other life for myself.

My husband, Willie, and I live in Franklin NH, along with our two rescue dogs, Maple, and Nelson. They join me at camp on occasion but both can be a bit picky about their dog friends so the camp can be overwhelming for them sometimes. Don’t worry though, most of my hobbies revolve around things that I can do with them, such as hiking, snowshoeing/cross country skiing, and kayaking/canoeing, so they stay plenty busy!

During the rare times, I am not with dogs, I enjoy rock climbing and I really love to travel.

I think all dogs deserve to live the best lives we can possibly give them, which is why I started this business. I spent years working the 9 to 5 grind, or more like 8 to 6 most days, and always felt so much guilt about leaving my dogs behind all day. I would sit at work, thinking about them and wondering what they were doing, if they were bored or lonely. I know that many other dog parents feel the same, which is what led me to establish Lakes Region Outward Hound.

Knowing your dog is out having fun, running, and playing with their friends while you are at work is such a good feeling. I want to help you give your dog the best life possible!
